Draft analyst Jay Bilas offers high praise on LaMelo Ball: “He’s insanely creative with the ball”

LaMelo Ball is, for some, the best available talent in the 2020 NBA Draft. In a draft that is considered poor by several draft experts, Ball’s qualities are highly praised.

ESPN’s analyst Jay Bilas, who has LaMelo as his third selection in his mock draft, talked on a “high note” about Ball’s skill package during his interview with the Charlotte Observer.

“Ball has positional size. He’s a legitimate 6-7 or 6-8. He’s insanely creative with the ball. He’s ridiculously talented. Just a fabulous passer; every bit the passer his brother (Lonzo, a point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans) is. He just doesn’t shoot it (well). He’s going to have to really work on it. He’s got an odd release. And worse than the odd release? It doesn’t go in.”

The Minnesota Timberwolves are going to pick first in the upcoming draft in a pretty weak draft that has not a clear-path selection for the No.1 pick.

With that in mind, Ball could be available for any of the Top-5 picks with the Timberwolves and the Warriors selecting in No.1 and No.2 pick, respectively.
