Rick Carlisle could not believe that the Indiana Pacers decided to fire head coach Nate McMillan.

Carlisle was ‘shocked’ with that development, given the team had already signed an one-year extension with McMillan.

“It’s just shocking to me. It’s very hard to comprehend. I don’t know what the organization’s philosophical reasons were, but I know Nate McMillan is one of the most respected coaches in the league,” Carlisle admitted, via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

The Pacers got swept by the Miami Heat in the opening round of the playoffs. McMillan parted ways with Indiana after four years at the helm.

He made the playoffs in all four years as head coach, but he went just 3-16 in the postseason.
