The NBA players decided to go on a strike in order to protest against police brutality, after the shooting of Jacob Blake.

The Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell reacted to the decision saying he felt moved by the players’ reaction against social injustice issues.

He also referred to Kenny Smith, who walked off the ‘Inside the NBA’ set to support the players. Bill Russell is considered an important figure for the NBA, as he was at the forefront of the efforts for social change in the 1960s onwards.

He took part in the first boycott in the history of the NBA back in 1961, when Russell, along with his teammates, sat out an exhibition game in protest of racial injustice.
