The Indiana Pacers parted ways with coach Nate McMillan, after the first round sweep they suffered against the Miami Heat. One of the main targets for their head coaching vacancy, if he becomes available, will be Houston Rockets’ current head coach, Mike D’Antoni, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Pacers were dead-last in three-point attempts during the regular season. However, they finished fourth in the East despite losing key players to injuries.

A possible D’Antoni hire will address the issue with the shooting numbers from beyond the arc, but the Pacers’ roster has a different structure from the Houston Rockets squad with multiple “bigs” in place.

All in all, D’Antoni is still trying to lead the Rockets to a title with the team tied (2-2) in the first round series vs OKC. However, his potential success or failure this season with Houston will determine his future in the organization.
