The Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns are expected to pursue Washington Wizards sharpshooting forward Davis Bertans in free agency.

The Wizards are motivated to keep Bertans, who will be an unrestricted free agent, and they have made it their top offseason priority.

In order to do so, they must outbid those other teams who have money to spend.

The Hawks are reportedly “particularly aggressive“, as they have by far the most cap space of any team this offseason.

The Suns will have the seventh-most and the Knicks will have the eighth-most, while the Wizards are 12th on the list.

Exact numbers are still unknown due to the 2020-2021 salary cap not being finalized yet, but it is expected to be lower than usual because of the lost revenue as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Bertans is intrigued by getting the chance to play alongside John Wall next season, as he could be a perfect compliment to Wall’s game because of his passing ability.

Bertans would have the opportunity to be the third scoring option with Wall and Bradley Beal.

The 27-year-old averaged career-highs in points per game (15.4), rebounds (4.5), assists (1.7), minutes (29.3) and three-pointers made (3.7).
