Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain and his status will be updated later in the week.

There isn’t a ton of info, but it seems like good news because it wasn’t bad enough to rule him out immediately, as Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports notes.

Lowry’s status will depend on how he responds to treatment in the coming days.

The 34-year-old underwent an MRI on the NBA campus in Orlando after he suffered the injury during the first quarter of the team’s Game 4 blowout win over the Brooklyn Nets.

The Raptors second round series against the Boston Celtics begins on Aug. 27.

If Lowry can’t play in Game 1, Norman Powell would more than likely get the start and rookie Terence Davis would see some extra minutes off the bench.
