Jakob Poeltl is going to be a restricted free agent this offseason. The San Antonio big man talked on his free agency and the fit with the Spurs organization.

In an interview with Austria’s APA, Poeltl believes his next deal should reflect his basketball value as he is entering a very strange offseason due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I want to get paid for the value I have as a basketball player,” said Poeltl, per APA, via News4SA. “It’s not about getting as much out as possible. I want to win and develop as a basketball player.”

Poeltl improved his game immensely during the 2019-2020 season averaging a career-high in blocks (1.4) and rebound (5.7) having also +2.0 in Defensive Box Plus/Minus, per basketball-reference.com. He had also made great strides in his creation skills, giving up a career-high 1.8 assists per contest.

The center from Austria feels he will continue play in San Antonio next season being an important part of the youth movement there.

“I think it’s quite realistic that I will stay in San Antonio,” Poeltl said.
