Despite winning Eurobasket in Lithuania with Spain in mid-September, Ricky Rubio was the subject of some negative criticism.

YPSILANTI-- On Saturday, February 11, 2012 Eastern Michigan University will be hosting Polish-American Heritage Day along with their scheduled basketball doubleheader. The women will take on Kent State at 2:00 p.m. and the men host perennial Mid-American Conference power Ohio University at 4:30 p.m.

LAHAINA— The Duke Blue Devils have been the kings on Maui, winning titles in 1992, 1997, 2001 and 2007. Michigan has a pedigree of winning here but it has been awhile, 1985 and 1988. Duke endured a brutal New York-North Carolina-Hawaii travel schedule for their Maui No Ka ‘Oi - (Maui is the Best).

LAHAINA-- It was the fifth time Duke has won the invitational tournament in Maui hosted by Chaminade University. The outcome was never for certain as Kansas kept coming back. Tyler Thornton hit a hands-in-the-face and awkward three-pointer with 20 seconds left to finish Kansas off, 68-61. He had previously made one at 1:10 left.

New York -- The energy outside the storied arena was noticeably heightened. People were hawking and begging for tickets. Street cart vendors were selling roasted chestnuts on the corners, all with a sweet sticky aroma. Souvenir peddlers were doing a brisk business with tee-shirts and hats.

BOSTON-- Sophomore guard Desyree Thomas (Waterford Mott) had a good start in contributing to the Eastern Michigan Women’s basketball team and their first win of the season. She got 10 points in helping to the 83-53 road win over Northeastern University. Thomas was an All-State and All-Conference hoopster at Mott her senior season.

C.J. Wallace signed with FC Barcelona for two years and is probably going to get a Congolese passport to play as an "extracomunitario" in Spain. That comes after he tried to get an Albanian passport in the first place, but gave up on this after it took too long to get it.

"You guys are from the UK? And you're basketball fans? Really?" Polite but slightly incredulous questions such as those were asked on a daily basis by Lithuanians, Poles and Turks in Panevezys, towards the characteristically conspicuous hardcore British hoops fans who had snapped up cheap flights and not-so-cheap camping just to see their team at Eurobasket.
