Panagiotis AngelopoulosThe owners of Olympiacos are eager to build a team full of NBA star-players in order to be the best team in Europe. The chairman of the ''reds'', mr. Panagiotis Angelopoulos, gave his first interview to an American reporter and the interview was published in the daily newspaper, ''New York Times''.

Some of the most interesting parts of the interview are quoted in the text below:

"Next season I will open up a small office for free agents in New York, and I will take petitions. As for Childress, he came in Greece well-informed about how things run in our team and he did not ask anything about money and questions like these, which make me feel angry."

In this point of the interview, it must be noticed that Childress has a 3-years contract with the Greek team and a total guaranteed wage coming up to $20 million, without including the taxes, which are paid from the club.

Moreover, during the last summer, mr. Angelopoulos had contacts with mr. Mark Bartelstein, the agent of many players, representing also Charlie Bell, Jannero Pargo and James Posey, but as he stated, he could not convince him that the ''reds'' is a rich team and can invest a great amount of money.

As for the rumours about Kobe Bryant and Lebron James, mr. Angelopoulos stated:

"I think we’ll see a day when a superstar player comes to Europe, but to Olympiacos, not to another team, that is my answer. Maybe it will be very soon. Maybe then you realize what I am telling you is serious."

Finally, he was asked about the maximum that he would pay in order to bring in the team a free agent, and he made known that he has already invested the money for next season's budget.

"I will not tell you. I have already made my investigation into the free-agent market for next year. Even if Josh decides to go back, we will be ready."
