Rudy wanted by Olympiacos, Barcelona and Real Madrid PDF Print E-mail
2009-07-02 00:32
ImageAs ESPN reported the Spanish International star Rudy Fernandez is unhappy in Portland and Euroleague giants are already lining up for his signature. The reason Rudy is unhappy at Portland Trail Blazers management is their pursuit of the Turkish star Hedo Turkoglu and their rumoured offer of a $10.000.000 per season contract offer for 4 years which would make Turkoglu Portland's best paid player, by far.

This has left a bitter taste in Rudy's mouth because he was the second lower paid player of the squad this season (behind French youngster Batum) earning just above $1.000.000 while he had paid Joventut $500.000 out of his own pocket just to sign for Portland.

Rudy does have a valid contract at this moment for the next season as the deal he signed last summer was a 2+2 with Portland having the option but it is very probable that Rudy will ask Portland to terminate his contract, even if they want to do keep him, and look for better terms elsewhere, including Europe.

As ESPN says, sources from the NBA have confirmed that Olympiacos, Barcelona, Real Madrid and CSKA Moscow have already approached his agent for preliminary talks. While the first three teams are very likely to be after Rudy, TalkBasket.net sources from Russia say that CSKA Moscow are not itnerested in him and they will be sticking to their new policy.

TalkBasket sources inside Greece have verified that Olympiacos' interest in Rudy is genuine but Rudy's first choice, if he decides to return to Europe, will be a team from his homeland Spain, namely Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Rudy finished his rookie NBA season averaging 10.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 2 asp coming off the bench but a possible Turkoglu arrival would see his role diminishing even more.
