Red Star's future is grim PDF Print E-mail

Red StarThe future of the Serbian powerhouse Red Star is rather grim after the latest developments which saw the club's president resigning from his position. Slobodan Vucicevic decided to resign after his talk with the club's coah and players regarding their future contracts hit a dead-end.

Vucicevic had taken over the club in a terrible condition with enormous debts but managed to build a strong team by finding new sponsors and hiring Pesic, one of the ebst coahces in Europe.

Unfortunately for the club, according to Vucicevic, the fans, players and the coach of the club could not fully comprehend the importance of the global financial crisis and all refused to see the budget, and therefore contracts, reduced.

Vucicevic could only afford to allocate 3.5 million euros for the club's budget next season but Pesic and the sports director Milan Opacic insisted on the budget being 4.5 million euros.

This probably means that Pesic will not sign the proposed 3-year contract worth a total 1.2 million euros he had received some days ago.
