 This week Union Olimpija has presented new signings for upcoming season. New members of Slovenian Club are Damjan Rudez (ex. Split) and Jaka Klobučar (ex. Geoplin Slovan) while Saso Ozbolt and Jasmin Hukic already played for club last season. Club has also extended contract with coach Aleksandar Dzikic.
Damjan Rudez, who will wear number 6, was member of Croatian club Split last season. In NLB (Adriatic) League he has posted 10.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 1.7 apg, in Croatian championship he was even better with 17.1 ppg and 3.8 rpg. 21 years old and 205 cm high small forward, who can also play power forward position, will wear Olimpija’s jersey for at least two years since he signed 2+1 contract. He is also on Croatian NT’s list.
Jaka Klobučar, new number 8, played for city rival Geoplin Slovan in last few years. Along with Goran Dragic, Emir Preldzic and Gasper Vidmar he’s one of the most promising young Slovenian players. Born in 1988, 198 cm high and playing on guard position, he signed 4 years contract. Like Rudez, he is on national team’s list too.
Saso Ozbolt extended his contract for 2 years. He is member of the club since season 2000/01 but due to knee’s problem played only few games in last three years. He hopes season-ending injures are past him and promises he’ll try to return to his pre-injury form when he was one of the Olimpija’s leader.
29 years old and 202 cm high forward Jasmin Hukic signed 2 years extension. He returned last year to Ljubljana after playing for Hapoel, Hemofarm, Ural Great and Prokom. Together with Marko Milic and Goran Dragic he was the core of the year’s roster.
Team also signed new 4 years contracts with promising forward Matic Sirnik and guard Mirza Sarajlija, both 17 years old.
Aleksandar Dzikic, coach who came to Olimpija after Memi Becirovic’s departure in December, has signed new 3 years contract. He won Slovenian Cup and Championship this year and lost in semi-final against Partizan Beograd in NLB League. Before coming to Ljubljana he was assistant coach in NBA for Minnesota Timberwolves from 2005 and assistant coach for Dusko Vujosevic in Partizan.

Latest signing of Partizan is Zarko Rakocevic (24 years, 204 cm), Montenegrian center who made his craft playing for Buducnost Podgorica. He is capable of playing both center and power-forward positions and he will be a valuable adding to the frontcourt after the departure of Nikola Pekovic and Dejan Borovnjak.
Union Olimpija today announced that they parted ways with back-up point guard Maurice Bailey (183 cm, 1981). He signed 2-year deal before previous season but wasn't happy with his role. Olimpija already bringed Jonathan Wallace (188 cm, 1986) for his spot few days ago so Bailey's departure was expected. Where he'll play next season isn't known yet.
