Maccabi beats Olimpija in EL opener

Maccabi Tel Aviv easily beat Union Olimpija infront of 11.000 fans in the Euroleague 2009-2010 season opener, behind 25 points of Alan Anderson and 19 of Andrew Wisniewski.

Wisniewski's substitute, Doron Perkins added 10 points while D'or Fischer ended up with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5(!!) blocked shots.

Maccabi took the early lead, finished the first quarter being up by 10 and cruised to victory from then on. Olimpija attempted to come back a couple of times, but they never came so close to worry Maccabi. Towards the end of the final quarter the margin grew even to 23 points, before it was cut to 20 by Matt Walsh's closing three-pointer.

Olimpija was led by Matt Walsh who had 18 and Sani Becirovic who added 13. Solid performances by Edin Bavcic and Vladimir Golubovic who added 11 and 10 respectively.
