Next season could be historical for LKL (Lithuanian Basketball League) as there might the highest number of participating teams. Rudupis and Juventus could be two new teams to join LKL. Rudupis are NKL (second division) champions and qualified for LKL. Though they need to upgrade their arena in order to be allowed to play in LKL.

Meanwhile Juventus finished third in NKL but they could join LKL if they pay an admission fee which is 100.000 euros. Unlike Rudupis, Juventus meets LKL arena requirements as they opened a new arena this year.

It was decided that there will be a limit of four foreign player per team next season. The limit should be decreased to three in 2010/2011 season.
