Cibona Zagreb, lone Croatian Euroleague team, signed new coach – Velimir Pesarovic, who coached Estudiantes Madrid last season. He will succeed Ivan Sunara who was fired due to bad season.Pesarovic, five times best scorer in Spanish league during his playing career, started coaching career in Caja San Fernando then took over Tau Ceramica where he was coach until the start of year 2007 when he resign because of health problems. Last season he signed with Estudiantes and kept them in ACB league. He will have hard work in Zagreb since club has to cope with financial and results problems. They ended national championship in semifinals, losing to Split with 2-1 and couldn’t manage to reach TOP16 in Euroleague and Final Four in Adriatic Basket League. Next step for Cibona is to bring new players for upcoming season. First one is already known – Robert Troha ex. Helios Domzale, 31 years old and 194 cm high Croatian guard, has signed 2-year contract. |
