Bjelica extends deal with Rytas through 2011

Milko Bjelica will remain a player of Lietuvos Rytas at least till the summer 2011 ater signing a contract extension with Lithuanian champions. This is the second year at Rytas for 25-year-old Montenegrin who arrived to the club before 2008-2009 season. Despite being originally signed as a backup, Bjelica became a key part of the team.

During 10 Euroleague games this season Bjelica averaged 11.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. His stats are even better in Lithuanian league (LKL) - 15.5 points 4.5 rebounds per game.

Lietuvos Rytas is already building the team for next year having already signed one of the top prospects in Europe Jonas Valanciunas, Kenan Bajramovic and Igor Milosevic. Jonas Vainauskas, Chairman of Rytas, told to the press that there are three ways for his team to play in Euroleague next season. The first one is to win LKL. Another way is to finish 2nd in LKL and then qualify through Euroleague qualifying tournament. And finally the club could be given a wild card by Euroleague.
