A message from: PIANIGIANI, SIMONE (Montepaschi Siena head coach) for their match against Real Madrid for Top 16 Game 4 - February 25, 2010 at PALACIO VISTALEGRE. Local time: 20:45 TV CET: 20:45

"In Madrid it will be another big game. All the teams are surely coming into next round at a very unique moment, after the national cup weekend. The most important thing for us will be withstanding the impact of Real Madrid, because after their loss in the National Cup, we expect a very strong reaction from them. We have to try to resist and we hope to have the physical and mental energy to play a good defense and also to keep our rhythm in offense. This will be an important key for us."www.euroleague.net

Those are major changes for Siena. I wonder if they will be able to replace these players with cheaper yet of similar quality or will the level of the team drop significantly. On one hand that would mean that EL will lose one good team. On the other hand it will finally be chance for other teams win Lega.

It is also interesting where these players will go.

The question is who will bring to the club.I don't think that EL will lose good team.

Quote:This is a time for great celebration for Montepaschi Siena, who won the Italian title for a fourth consecutive year with a 4-0 sweep of Armani Jeans Milano in the play-off finals.

But it is also a time for reflection and, no doubt for the passionate supporters of the club, a bit of sadness.

An outfit that has thoroughly dominated the Italian league for several years is to part with leading players and bring in new faces.

All things change eventually.

Simone Pianigiani, the coach that has led Mens Sana on their great run and will lead Italy's national side this summer in EuroBasket 2011 qualifying games, will remain in charge.

He considered a lot of things after the Tuscan club's 93-69 Game 4 triumph over Milano.

"It's the end of a cycle," he said, "perhaps one that will never be repeated having lasted four years.

"I can only say thank you to the team, those players that have arrived to Siena without having ever won anything but have now won everything.

"They have seen their status go up but they never modified their approach with regards to work and attention to detail."

Pianigiani has proved his worth before, and now he'll try to do it again.

"Now we will construct an almost new group and the dream is that the veteran players will be able to transmit the spirit and work ethic to the new players," he said.

"Now I am exhausted but looking forward to the national team that will allow me to change the situation and the point of view."

Italy will face Finland, Latvia, Israel and Montenegro in EuroBasket qualifying games.

Montepaschi Siena wants to keep Romain Sato

Despite the rumors about the interest of several European top clubs for Romain Sato (Khimki, Regal Barcelona and Real Madrid), Montepaschi Siena doesn't want to get rid of the 29-year-old Central African Republic forward, who was named the MVP of the last Lega A, who is at the end of his contract with the Italian team.

What do you guys think about Siena? It's a good team, nice defense, good offense. Good playmaker with Bo, Rakovic is a beast and will only get better. Lavrinovic and Kaukenas are playing great. it's a balanced team in my opinion

Summers will be a good player for Siena. I think that he'll show how good he can be. he was a good player at georgetown but he didn't got a lot of playing time with the Pistons
