Hey man don't bother with them Greeks. They have their heads so deep in their asses that they can see clearly anymore. Who cares what these noobs here are saying. Just focus on our national team and leave them live in their imaginary world.

You seem to have issues with many nations huh? First it was the arrogant Israelis now it's the noob Greeks with their heads in their asses.. You sure know how to get along in an INTERNATIONAL forum.
I'd suggest you stop generalizing people and insulting other users.
Or you can just give us a nice list of all the nations you don't like too much, so we can ban them all from this forum. Thanks, that would help.

Really? What about Beno Udrih, Sasha Vujacic, Primoz Brezec, Sani Becirovic, Gasper Vidmar? There are three or four startes for Slovenia. Our strongest team will probably be: Beno Udrih, Vujacic, Nachbar, Erazem Lorbek, Gasper Vidmar.

I agree with part where you say that we will get eliminated in knock-out round, but that you can say for all teams from group F.

You're right about Sani and Vidmar, I forgot them but Udrih & Vujacic?! They almost never play for the national team. You never had them.
Oh, and Brezec... he has no talent at all.

Ok Theo, you really should show alot more faith in this current Hellas team. This current team is plenty talented. We need to give these kids, that's right 'kids,' a chance to prove themselves. We need to move on. Let's not forget that this team was slapped together in a month and a half, so let's be honest, they've done a fairly decent job.

We need to show a little more faith and belief in these boys, and simultaneously embrace them. They are a quality side on court. They've made a truckload of mistakes during some games granted, but let's not forget they lack that big time tournament experience. Personally, I think we take it one game at the time, step by step and go from there. There's no doubt in my mind, we'll make the quarter-finals. From then onwards it's a different ball game all together, and absolutely anything can happen.

Don't write them off just yet. They are young, energetic, and hungry to win. Koufos is a perfect example of this, with a 'never die attitude. I've been reading many forums, and it seems quite obvious that demeaning and degrading our team, our Hellas, is becoming a common trait. To be honest, I'm sick and tired of this bullshit, especially by the 'Yanks.' I'd like to remind 'ALL' the ' Hellas Haters,' that Hellas is ranked 'NUMBER 4' which is above all teams, in all groups bar Spain. I'd like a little feedback especially from the 'Ellines' in this forum. Cheers!!

1)Welcome to :tb: !!! ;)

2)Of course we will make it to the next round!

3)Who told you I don't have faith to the team ?! I support them from the first time and I have faith to their abilities!

Look fool, in here we talk about basketball without insulting people.
If you have anything to say about basketball post it, if not, STFU. :aggressive:

*Of course I can see why you're so upset with the Greeks.
You know why too... :bag:

He said he's tired and he wants to stop in order to have a couple more years of good professional basketball. :bag:

Many people blamed him because he stopped at the age of 30 and they give the examples of NBA players(like Nowitzki, Gasol and Parker) who play about 90 games every season and they still play for the national team.

Some other people think that because of Spanoulis' transfer to Olympiacos, the atmosphere in Greek locker rrom, last year in the WC, was messy because of that.

Personally, I don't know what happend. Maybe is true that Diamantidis wanted to rest. You can't blame him for that.

At least we, Panathinaikos fans, will have the opportunity to see him play with the team for 3-4 years!
Although, if you ask me, I want him back to the NT even if that means that he will be more tired when he play with PAO!

Well, Udrih promised that he will play in next tournaments. He got married this summer.
Brezec was decent last year, probably better choice than Smodis or Jagodnik.

B. Udrih, G. Dragic
Becirovic, Lakovic/Vujacic, Z. Dragic
Nachbar, E. Muric
E. Lorbek, Slokar
Vidmar, Begic, Brezec/Smodis
That's great team.

Indeed is a very good team!!! I, and generally PAO fans, love Sani!! Great kid and great player!!! ;)

By the way, the best team that we could have in my opinion is:

Diamantidis, Calathes
Spanoulis, Zisis, Vasileiadis
Perpeoglou, Vasilopoulos
Fotsis, Tsartsaris
Sofo, Bourousis, Koufos

*Players in bold will probably never play for the national team again, so instead of them I would choose Bramos(or Papanikolaou) and Kaimakoglou!

Apart from speculation, Hellas has been performing vastly better than Slovenia for more than a decade, the two medals at Eurobasket, one gold, one bronze and a silver in the world championship. What has Slovenia done? Been the butt of jokes instead B)

You'll excuse therefore if we have our heads up our asses, but we prefer to speak with results B)

Btw. welcome to our new Greek supporter from Canada, glad to see we are growing in size!

Also, I'm watching GER-ESP, and Kaman is PLAYING LIKE A BEAST!!!! I'm really pleased with Germany's improvement over the years. They are playing with great heart and attitude and are evolving to being one of Europe's solid teams :)

No. The -oglou in Greek surnames denotes that their origin is from Asia Minor, a densely populated region of Greeks (since ancient times as the ancient ruins and relics in the region prove) before the slaughter and genocide of the Turks that conquered the region.

Dude, in asia minor (orelse in turkish) oğlu = oglou means "son of" , because of that I asked this question. Actually I'm turkish :)))) , and we know that these regions were belong to greeks, you don't have to prove it. Massacres, ghenocides and slaughters part was a bit harsh comment yet I don't think you wrote it to be aggressor , so it is ok.

Thanks for the answer anyway.

Well actually in this day and age you'd be surprised how many similarities we share :D I've got a Turkish good friend who lives closeby to me and we laugh about the similarities we uncover every so often between the two countries over time :)

Germany vs Spain was a great and close match. Of course in the last minutes of the game where experience counts more Spain couldn't lose.
A key factor was the great defense on Nowitzki in the last quarter!

Kaman is just awesome. He can do everything a center can do and does it well!
Dirk was Dirk and he became the second all time Eurobasket leading scorer following only Nikos Galis(I think he has 1033 points in 5 Eurobaskets!!!).

*Spain has a problem in 3 point shooting, although they have great shooters.

I can't wait for the next two matches!!!

I'm -unfortunately- sure that Mitsos will not change his mind. :(

As for Papaloukas, coach will not need him. He will be too old...

France just confirmed my(and not only mine) opinion that they are losers and not serious as a team.
Even if you want you can't lose such a game and they almost did it. :bag:

I don't know how well France will react against a defensive team like Greece, Russia or Slovenia.

Group E might have more great teams than group F but most of them are great because of their offense.
On the other hand, in group F, we have the 3 best defensive teams(you can see that in the stats too. They are 1, 2 & 3 in points allowed category)!

I think that the knock-out round will be much more interesting than most people think!!! ;)
