The game of the first day between France and Turkey will judge, in my opinion, who will qualify as 4th to the knock-out round!!!

Yes georgia can qualify too , but I think the team with the name UNRECOGNISED by greeks is slightly better.
You Greeks normally could be the leader but with this squad I guess it is tough luck.
Turkey can defeat France I guess because of their poor 3 pointer threat.
I watched Lietuva in both Turkey and Spain games and they are not in form, I believe they will be eliminated.
Nowitzky is a huge question mark , if he plays well with 1 or 2 companion they can even get the trophy.

Serbia, Spain , Russia , Slovenia, Greece are my %100 qualifiers.

I'm guessing in Group F. Russia is the only lock for me. Group E...Who knows? Spain is a lock BUT other than that. Turkey vs France and Serbia vs Lietuva could go either way. It all depends on who shows up to play and gives 100% of their abilities. No matter what, we are watching amazing basketball.

No, no man, :agree: Germany don't stand a chane. In that level, 2 players can't beat teams that are full of great players.
Yes, Lithuania is not as good as I was expecting so far but I think that will play better as the tournament goes on. Fans will help them on this. ;)

*By the way, it's very impressive that the last time a host(of Eurobasket or WC or Olympic tournament) nation won the trophy was back in 1996 in the Olympic Games where the Dream Team II won it easily!

It's true that if we had our best players we would be, in my opinion, the favorites along with Spain! ;)

*I still can't deal with the fact that Diamantidis(to me the best player in europe and definitely the best Greek player) will never play with the national team again. :( :bag:

With Pachulia knocked out, Georgia will probably lose all their 3 remaining games.

Almost similiar thoughts. Yes I agree ,with you , but I want to say something beyond tactics.

- Spain disturbs me, they are mentally in a strange mood, like they feel like to be superior to anyone but at the same time they seem like they feel their time is over.
- Germany is not as powerful but Nowitzky is a superman and I have full confidience in him if they can defeat spain they can do anything.
- Apart from Parker , France is not a winner .
- Turkey , as underdogs with good challenge they can snatch a title but they are a bit afraid of thier opponents.
- Lithuania, maybe just an intuition but , they won't see the quarter finals. Not as good. Saras is old , Kleisa is missing an the other players are not leaders.
- Slovenia, they will say godbye at quarter finals (but with dignity)
- Russia can be the champions, every day they are getting more stout.
- Greece, as you said, not this time.
- Serbia , they are my favorites, lack of defensive quality can be attoned buy superior shooting and offensive tactics. And mentally , they are very strong.

Serbia , Russia , Turkey (call me emotional but especially after the dramatic survival things has changed in their mind they willenoy more than think), are my favouites.

Spain: They clearly are the favorites but their attitude may prove harmful for them.

Germany: No matter how awesome Dirk Nowitzki is how of a good help Chris Kaman is, they don't stand a chance against the 5 teams.

Turkey: The fact that they finally survived the first group stage may have boost their confidence. They will qualify for the knock-out round. Then, who knows... (I definitely don't consider them as favorites)
*Yes, vakasimo2 you are emotional!!! ;)

France: Is true that they have an important disadvantage, they can't threat from behind the arc. Despite that, they have a great team, a great leader and great individuals. If in the knock-out round they have to play with one out of Greece, Russia or Slovenia I think the chances will be 50-50. I may underestimate them but that's what I think!

Serbia: Great and young team with some great individuals like Teodosic, Krstic and Savanovic. They also have Keselj who's only good at shooting but he does it very well in this tournament(I think he has over 66% in 3-point shooting!!!). They also have a great coach and he is like their father. Serbia's team is like a family and that's why they do so well. They don't have the unbelievable talent that many people may think but the fact that they are a family helps them overcome this.
I think Serbia will qualify to the semis!!

Lithuania: They have the home court advantage and whatever goes with it!! ;) They have a great,35 years old though, leader and some other great players like Lavrinovic, Kaukenas and my favorite... Jonas Valanciunas!!!
However, I think that they will not make it to the final and maybe not even to the semis. :bag:
______________________________________________________________

Georgia: I saw that Black Urum said, Pachulia is knocked-out. So that means Georgia is officialy eliminated from the next round.

F.Y.R.O.M.: They have been good so far, but they used Ilievski for 38 minutes per game and Antic for 35. That means that they will not be able to play in such a level that this phase of the tournament demands, they are tired.
Although, FYROM will qualify to the next round(where they will be eliminated!) just because is impossible for Georgia and Finland to even be competitive in this stage! ;)

Finland: They still celebrating for being in the next round. :rofl3:
They will be eliminated.

Slovenia: They have no absences(except Nachbar) and they are ready to make it a step further than the other times.
Hmmm, that means medal?! I don't think so!
I think Slovenia will qualify as 3rd and get eliminated in the knock-out round.

Russia: They are getting better and better every game(just like Greece), they are a TEAM and they have a great leader named Kirilenko! Russia along with Greece are the favorites for capturing the first position in the group(of course they have the advantage of not being defeated in the first round).
They will make it to the next round but I think they won't make it to the semis.

Greece: We are a TEAM and you can see that from the statistcs. If you see the top performers in any statistic category(except blocked-shots) you will see none Greek name, they share everything! But if you see at teams stats we are in the second position in points allowed(just 0.6 points behind Russia) and we are number 1 on blocked-shots(4.2) and in rebounds(40.4)!!
This young and promising Greek team is not only getting better through games but through practise also!
I strongly believe that we'll be ready for this round and leaded by our leader Fotsis(you can say Zisis too but Fotsis is just a huge player--to me the best "4" guy in europe) we will reach the knock-out round as 1st or as 2nd team in the group. If we reach the semis that will be just a bonus, we don't really count on that... but who knows, we have faith!!
By the time Eurobasket ends our goal is to have make it to the top-6, you know... pre-Olympic tournament!!! :good:

*I hope you will read it because I tried so hard!!! ;) B)

I've read it bro and I was quite fond of it. Actually our thoughts are alike. I want to add something , I think from now on the habits will be important too or let me say the psychlogy. I personally think for example greece will be the third, but it is in fact up to history of gre-slo and gre-rus matches. You may be young but if slo afraids of you , you can defeat them.

I think Turkey's destiny will be decided today , because we can defeat france and they can defeat us , if we can defeat them you can see us in the final. If we can2t I think we evn won't able to qualify to quarter finals.

I can't find a place for spain , my heart says something and mind something different. I think the winner of spa-ser match will be a finalist. Serbia can be defeated easily only by spain but yugos are cold blooded assasins at basketball. I somehow feel taht they will win.

Russia mentally and phisically only team from your group to claim victory.

You will probably be defeated by yourself.

I'm about to be convinced about germany but still I want to see dirk for the last time against spain.

And my biggest claim is still valid , Lithuania is not going anywhere.

Really? What about Beno Udrih, Sasha Vujacic, Primoz Brezec, Sani Becirovic, Gasper Vidmar? There are three or four startes for Slovenia. Our strongest team will probably be: Beno Udrih, Vujacic, Nachbar, Erazem Lorbek, Gasper Vidmar.

I agree with part where you say that we will get eliminated in knock-out round, but that you can say for all teams from group F.

Ok Theo, you really should show alot more faith in this current Hellas team. This current team is plenty talented. We need to give these kids, that's right 'kids,' a chance to prove themselves. We need to move on. Let's not forget that this team was slapped together in a month and a half, so let's be honest, they've done a fairly decent job.

We need to show a little more faith and belief in these boys, and simultaneously embrace them. They are a quality side on court. They've made a truckload of mistakes during some games granted, but let's not forget they lack that big time tournament experience. Personally, I think we take it one game at the time, step by step and go from there. There's no doubt in my mind, we'll make the quarter-finals. From then onwards it's a different ball game all together, and absolutely anything can happen.

Don't write them off just yet. They are young, energetic, and hungry to win. Koufos is a perfect example of this, with a 'never die attitude. I've been reading many forums, and it seems quite obvious that demeaning and degrading our team, our Hellas, is becoming a common trait. To be honest, I'm sick and tired of this bullshit, especially by the 'Yanks.' I'd like to remind 'ALL' the ' Hellas Haters,' that Hellas is ranked 'NUMBER 4' which is above all teams, in all groups bar Spain. I'd like a little feedback especially from the 'Ellines' in this forum. Cheers!!

Well I'm not greek but I want to say one thing. I agree that Greece doing good job but I have 2 concerns.

1- I think greek players are not ready for a semi final in their minds as a prospect (of course everyone plays to win in a single match but aiming a victory is somthing else you know)
2- The group greece is coming from (or will come from) is not as tough as the other group(s) which may cause for extra readiness for the teams qualify from there, like war hardened soldiers.

Hey man don't bother with them Greeks. They have their heads so deep in their asses that they can see clearly anymore. Who cares what these noobs here are saying. Just focus on our national team and leave them live in their imaginary world.
