It's the first game for us and both teams were missing important players (lampe, gortat, Casspi, Blu, Halperin) so it's hard to learn a lot about the team as a whole but we could see which players came less rusty and more prepared.. Eliyahu, Pnini and Kukia were the good ones with the first 2 contributing mostly on offense while Kukia gave some great defense and did a great job rebounding. Kadir, Mekel, Roth and especially Green will have to step up because they all looked awful. Nissim Naimi and Cohen were completely useless and will probably find their way out of the team together with Rothbart that I'm pretty sure didn't even play.
So it was nice to win but it really says nothing about the team, today against greece with all the missing players.. I just hope it won't be painful.

67-66... WHY?! :P
Probably one of the worst first halfs I've ever seen, and I've been watching the Israeli league for quite a long time so there's a tough competition.
The 2nd half was much better for both teams, we lost it for a stupid foul of Pnini and then an amazing and-one by a Greek player that I couldn't recognize :D
But once again, just like last game, because of all the players that will only join later this is more of a tournament to judge the other players, to see where the rotation players are standing and who's looking best.
Nissim was the only one who did well in the first half and really got himself another chance, Kadir and Naimi who had awful first half got much better and lead Israel in the 2nd.
Eliyahu and Pnini were again the best in the team, but they also were far from their best, both with disappointing shooting percentage but both took right shots that would usually go in so I'm not disappointed of them, but I just hope Pnini would grow up cuz this kind of foul in the Eurobasket and we lose a game and probably get back home earlier then expected, so he really needs to get rid of this child he still has in him.
Ohayon Roth and Mekel were nothing special and all have to step up and get much more confidence, if next game looks the same then maybe Naimi got his chance back and it's gonna be a big fight for the places in the final 12-man roster.
Green was once again SH*T, he picked early fouls, when he was on court he took the wrong shots for him and didn't contribue in the rebounding area as much as he's expected to. If he won't step up, we'll see Israel playing with Blu and Eliyahu as 5 most of the time and run a lot

Serbia won over Macedonia.

Teodosic very good performance, as is Savanovic. Tepic can't hit 3's, Tripkovic promising... We will see, very tactical game so u couldn't see real strength of the team, maybe in the finals...

I didn't get a chance to see the game against Bulgaria (88-82 for them) but I did see the highlights and read summaries of the game. It seems like once again, with the absence of Casspi Blu and Halperin it is Eliyahu and Pnini that lead our team, Nissim seem to find his confidence, because he always had shooting abilities. I hope that Naimi's good minutes here and there and Mekel's PR won't make the coaches put them on the last 12 roster, because they're simply not worth it (especially Mekel, Naimi has his moments).

Croatia-Serbia in the finals. With all due respect, I think that Serbia will win 15+...

No, but you can manually add them up and divide them using these:

Hm... Croatia played really well for the 33 minutes leading by 10. But then, 23-4 for Serbia in the last seven minutes...

Hellas-Bosnia Herzegovina: 87-62

I do wish we played with stronger opponents however, even if we are in the process of rebuilding

Hellas-Italy: 72-83

Good result for Italy, but they are relying on Bargnani a great deal. If he doesn't remain in the game, Italy starts to deflate pretty fast.

I think that a loss for our young group was necessary.
They have to see their mistakes more carefully now.
I'm talking about the "youngsters".

*Hopefully in the next tournament(I think in Germany) Nik Calathes will get his first minutes after the injury!!!

^ Hopefully. Really, I wish we played serious opponents for all our preparatory games vs. Spain, Russia, Serbia (no fighting tho :P ), etc.

We could even invite Argentina or Brazil to take part in the Acropolis tournament for example. I don't see any value playing small-time teams like Poland and Bosnia.

It seems that our team already will have a dignified presence in this Eurobasket tournament. I hope we get better team cohesion as we play each new friendly
