Rimas Kurtinaitis admitted to lrytas.lt that he has a very good offer from Benetton Treviso to take a head coach position. 49-year-old Lithuanian coach took charge of Lietuvos Rytas in the middle of the season and won every title possible which attracted the interest of other clubs.

Former legendary player and now a coach, Rimas Kurtinaitis, said that it would be very good for Lithuania if he could be a head coach in one elite leagues in Europe because Serbian agents are controlling coach market in those leagues.

It will be Lietuvos Rytas who will have a final say, according to Kurtinaitis. He said that if his current club says no then he is not going anywhere.

Lietuvos Rytas led by Rimas Kurtinaitis defeated Benetton Treviso in Eurocup quarter-final 85-79 eventually lifting the cup.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Mantas Kalnietis signed 3-year-contract with Benetton Treviso. Italian club has been showing interest in Zalgiris point guard for a couple of years already and it seems that the time has come for Kalnietis to move.

23-year-old 1.95m point guard averaged 8.5 points per game for Zalgiris in Euroleague this season. Kalnietis is expected to make the final squad of Lithuania national team after Sarunas Jasikevicius announced his desire to take a break this summer.

As we reported earlier Benetton is also holding talks with Lietuvos Rytas head coach Rimans Kurtinaitis.

Scavolini released head coach Stefano Sacripanti and also nigerian center Jeleel Akindele(2.14-C) due to financial reasons. The short announcement of the team on their official website explains that both decisions were made due to budget restraints and that it wouldn't be their natural choice. Scavolini thanked Sacripanti for his contribution for the last 2 seasons and they wish him all the best.

Akindele was one of the best players of Scavolini this season and he averaged 6.3 points 6.7 rebounds and 1 block per game in a total of 30 games in the regular season of the LegaA1.

Caserta announced the signing of Stefano "Pino" Sacripanti as their new head coach and Claudio Coldebella as their new General Manager. Both their contract duration will be two years.
The new coach and GM will be presented to the media at June 12, where the club's chairman Rosario Caputo will analyse the team's new organisation.

Sacripanti was born in 1970 and started his coaching career at the youth department of Basketball Cantu, until he took over the head coach position of the club in 2000, replacing Franco Ciani. He remained there until 2007 when he moved to Scavolini Pesaro, a newly promoted club and led them to the Lega A play-offs. He has won the Italian Super Cup in 2003 and 2004 with Cantu and has coaches various junior National Teams.

Coldebella was born in 1968 and had a great career as a player playing for clubs like Virtus Bologna, AEK Athens, PAOK Thessalonikiand AJ Milano. After retiring in 2006 he worked as an assistant coach for Sasha Djordjevic in AJ Milano. He has also won many cups both on Club level and on International level.

Some sources say that Benetton offered a 3 years extension to their coach Oktay Mahmuti but some rumours say that Fotis Katsikaris is one of the candidates for their bench.

I hope they qualify to Euroleague, such traditional teams are much needed.

Dejan Bodiroga announced a couple of days ago that he is resigning as General Manager of Italian club Lottomatica Roma, a position he held for the past 2 years.


"This was solely my decision. I spent 2 great years as a player in Roma to be followed by 2 years at the GM position. I am leaving the club after we achieved to get the 3-year Euroleague license. I want to go back to Belgrade due to personal reasons. The early elimination to Biella was an unpleasant surprise, but such things happen in the playoffs. Bucchi did a good job this year by qualifying to Euroleague Top16 and then finishing runner ups in Lega A, the best position the team finished in in the past 13 years and qualifying for the next season's Euroleague and was awarded for his achievements.

Bucchi has also won an Italian Cup and a Euroleague qualification with Napoli and has also coached top Italian clubs like Benetton Treviso with whom he won another Italian Cup and Virtus Roma.

He had a short sting abroad when he coached Slask Wroclaw in Poland and has won the Italian Coach of the Year award back in 2000.

Benetton Treviso announced the extension of Judson Wallace as well as the departure of Matteo Soragna. Wallace extended for 1+1 with an NBA opt-out, but since he won't be participating in the US Summer Leagues, he is expected to play for Benetton next season.

Benetton Treviso thanked Matteo Soragna for his contribution to the club the past 5 years that he wore the green jersey. In the last 4 seasons he was the captain of the team.
