ImageLast year LKF Cup winners defeated arch rivals Lietuvos Rytas and retained the trophy. DeJuan Collins was named MVP of the final with 27 points. He hit some crucial 3-pointers to decline any chances for Vilnius club to catch Žalgiris. Although the game was pretty close in the first half, Rytas were behind for most of the time.

In the second half Lithuanian champions increased their lead even more. At one point in the 4th quarter Žalgiris had 16 point lead. Most of Rytas efforts to narrow the gap ended in failure. The final score 83:72. Winning a trophy against arch rivals should boost the confidence of the players. Meanwhile Lietuvos Rytas should be careful to avoid similar scenario in the Euroleague Top 16. Coach Aleksandar Trifunovic expressed his faith in his players despite the loss. His opponent Rimantas Grigas wished that Žalgiris would play like that in every game.
